18th Annual Rink Rat Tournament
February 18th thru 21st, 2011
Troy Albany Hockey invites you to participate in our 18th Annual Rink Rat Tournament. The Rink Rat Tournament features competition for travel teams at the Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget levels. New for this year we will host a Sled Hockey Division. Our goal for the Rink Rat Tournament is to provide a great experience for all players and their families. We seek teams that play at comparable skill levels within each specific age group to ensure a highly competitive and enjoyable hockey experience.
The 2011 tournament will involve play at the following division levels:
Squirt B, Squirt C, Pee Wee B, Pee Wee C,
Bantam B, Bantam B2-C, Midget B, Sled Hockey
The Rink Rat Tournament will include a four (4) game guarantee and will begin mid-afternoon on Friday, February 18th with the Championship and consolation games planned to be held on Monday, February 21st (subject to change). While we cannot guarantee game times for individual teams, consideration will be given to teams traveling long distances when compiling the game schedule. For instance, local teams will be targeted for the Friday games to the best of our ability and depending on the number of local teams participating. It is anticipated that there will be four (4) teams per division level with a few divisions possibly having more depending on ice availability. Individual player of the game awards will be presented after each game to recognize outstanding play and/or sportsmanship. There will also be team and individual awards given to the division champion and runner-up teams at the end of the tournament. The 2011 Rink Rat Tournament will follow USA Hockey rules.
The cost for the 2011 Rink Rat Tournament is $925 for Midget and Bantam levels, $875 for Pee Wee and Squirt levels. Raffle tables and vendors (providing T-shirt designs, game photography, etc.) will be present.
Troy Albany Hockey’s home rinks are Frear Park in Troy and the Albany County Hockey Facility (ACHF), both located conveniently in the center of the Capital District. It is anticipated that the majority of games will be held at these locations with the balance at a few other nearby rinks.
A major part of Troy Albany Hockey’s ability to run a first-class tournament and keep our costs as low as possible is due to sponsors’ support of our organization. Troy Albany Hockey has negotiated special rates with several hotel sponsors for the tournament. They are all excellent facilities to stay at. All hotels are located within 15 minutes from the main rinks. Hotel amenities are detailed on the attached hotel sheet (see link). Teams may want to consider using a single team representative to reserve all rooms needed.
NOTE: Only make hotel arrangements after you have been notified of your acceptance to the tournament. We will notify all teams of the results of tournament registration as soon as possible. The earlier the registration is received, the sooner we can finalize acceptance to join our tournament.
