Cross-Ice Mites/Learn-To-Play

Learn to Play is fun high-energy weekly program starting on Friday October 23, 2009 from 6:20 PM until 7:50 PM at the Frear Park Ice Arena. The Learn to Play program is designed for the players that have completed a Learn to Skate program, or have very basic skating skills. The program introduces the fundamentals of playing the game of Hockey using methods that emphasize having fun, and will keep the players moving and motivated. Players will begin to learn stopping, turning, forwards and backwards skating, crossovers, stick handling, puck control, passing and receiving and much more including an introduction to Cross Ice games. It is designed for kid’s ages 4-6 years old with some skating experience. The Learn to Play is designed and instructed by Winning Edge. The cost of this program is only $250. This price includes the mandatory Family Fundraiser Fee of $50 so if this is your second or third child entering the association and you have already paid the Family Fundraiser Fee, the cost will be $200. Full sets of equipment (not including skates) will be available at no fee for the first 25 players. Details will be provided at the time of registration.

Cross Ice Mite is a fun high-energy weekly program starting on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM at the Albany County Hockey Facility. The cross-ice, mini-game format is a technique recommended and sanctioned by USA Hockey used to maximize hockey instruction. The first two 25 minutes session is focused on continuing to develop the skating and stick handling fundamentals of the players. The third 25 minutes session is full of exciting, fun, and fast paced mini games in the cross-ice format. This is the same program format being taught throughout the United States. It is designed for kid’s ages 5-8 years old with some skating experience. The Cross Ice Program is designed and instructed by Excel Hockey, Inc. The cost of this program is only $250.   This price includes the mandatory Family Fundraiser Fee of $50 so if this is your second or third child entering the association and you have already paid the Family Fundraiser Fee, the cost will be $200.  Full sets of equipment (not including skates) will be available at no fee for the first 25 players. Details will be provided at the time of registration.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED  - Hockey helmet with face cage or shield (no bike helmets), hockey elbow pads, hockey shin guards, hockey gloves, a mouth guard, and hockey skates. Lear to Play and Cross Ice Mites – all of the above plus hockey pants, hockey shoulder pads, gender-specific protective hockey underwear (with velcro for hockey sock attachment), hockey socks, and a hockey stick.
